Robinson Preserve RDF-017

Robinson Preserve                                                                                                          Site #
1704 99th Street Northwest  Bradenton, FL 34209                                             Manatee County

Robinson Preserve is located in northwestern Bradenton, in the Palma Sola area, across the street from the Palma Sola Botanical Gardens.  This 487-acre preserve has undergone an incredible transformation from disturbed farmland to coastal and wetland habitats.

Photo- This used to be farmland. After exacting wetland construction,
this "SALTERN", a very rare tidal habitat dependant on precise elevation,
covers 10 acres, and there are over 200 acres of generic salt marsh,
including a marsh nursery where plants are grown to be transplanted
in other areas being restored around the bay.

Numerous exotic invasive plants have been removed, effectively opening up the land for native plants to flourish. The preserve's new waterway system  helps restore the tidal flow within the coastal habitats.

Robinson Preserve also features numerous recreational opportunities for the community. Resources for low-impact environmental activities include boardwalks, hiking and biking trails with bridges and covered benches, and a canoe/kayak launch and “Blue Kayak Trail System”.

Additional amenities include observation towers and platforms, picnic areas, and a visitors center. Robinson Preserve is located in western Manatee County, a few miles west of downtown Bradenton.

This  coastal property features the rare saltern habitat, miles of trails to explore, and lush mangrove forests.
